This painting was completed at the Plein Air Grand Marais last September. I think that painting on the north shore of Lake Superior in Grand Marias, MN, is one of the most scenic and beautiful places around. Having said that, I love painting almost anywhere. But, I believe we all have special places that we connect with on a deeper level. Places that fill my soul and mind with only gratefullness.

I painted this plein aire at the Oliver Kelly Farm in August, 2008. The bundles of grain were glowing with light on this warm summer day. Making a decision to be finished with my statement on the canvas, I packed up my equipment. As I was doing this, a farmer and a group of children came into my view with oxen pulling the wagon. I was pleased to have the opportunity to watch them pick up the grain bundles. I was thankful I had finished my painting.
